United Hospital’s commitment to research means that patients and physicians
can obtain the most current technology and treatment options. Oncology trials
are used to study important issues regarding cancer
prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment.
United Hospital participates in studies and clinical trials with a variety of
research sponsors, universities and pharmaceutical companies. Treatment studies
through our research programs include innovative new surgical techniques, radiation
therapy and chemotherapy drugs.
Also being studied are emerging treatments such as immune therapy. Although
only two to three percent of cancer patients participate in research studies
nationwide each year, United Hospital has consistently surpassed this national
standard for newly diagnosed patients.
We collaborate in studies with the organizations such as:
Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group - one of the largest clinical cancer research organizations in the United States that conducts clinical trials in all types of adult cancers.
United Pain Center provides a
combination of services for the diagnosis, treatment and management of all types
of pain. These services include consultative evaluations, diagnostic and therapeutic
injections, medication management, biofeedback and psychological assessment
and support.
