The Breast Center

The Breast Center of United Hospital is a comprehensive program of screening, diagnostic, treatment and support services for women with benign and malignant breast disease. The Breast Center provides quality care from a team of professionals, backed by the latest technology.

A unique part of our care team is our nurse clinician.
She is an advanced practice nurse with education and experience in caring for women with breast disease. She can answer questions, offer emotional support and help find other resources appropriate for the woman and her family during treatment and recovery.

We are located in suite 600 of the GardenView Medical Building on 347 North Smith Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota. For convenient parking, use the Red Ramp.

The Breast Center of United Hospital is the oldest dedicated center in the Twin Cities east metro area.

The

The Breast Center of United Hospital has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. To achieve this designation, breast centers must be fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.

United's Breast Center offers state-of-the-art digital mammography and breast ultrasound. Radiologists specializing in mammography are located in The Breast Center.

Mammography

A mammogram is an x-ray picture of the breasts. It is used to find tumors and to help tell the difference between noncancerous (benign) and cancerous (malignant) disease.

Bone density scanning

A bone mineral density (BMD) test/scan measures how much calcium and other types of minerals are present in a section of your bone.

Cancer rehabilitation services

Individuals with cancer may experience a decline in the ability to exercise, perform home activities and job skills. Sister Kenny Rehabilitation Institute offers comprehensive cancer rehabilitation services including:

  • lymphedema management by certified lymphedema therapists
  • physical therapy
  • occupational therapy
  • speech and language therapy
  • vocational consultation and referral.

Sage Screening Program

The Breast Center participates in the Minnesota Department of Health's Sage Screening Program. This program is dedicated to increasing the number of women who are screened for breast and cervical cancer. It provides free screening and follow-up services to uninsured and underinsured women.
