Patient Centered Care

Our service to the community focuses on caring for patients as individuals. That’s why we’ve made our hospital a more comfortable place for you and your family in these and other ways:

Pagers - We give pagers to family members so they don't have to worry about missing the doctor when their loved one is in surgery.

Music - We offer patients headsets and music to help them relax during treatments or before surgery.

Noise reduction - We’ve reduced noise by giving staff personal pagers, rather then calling them through overhead speakers.

Follow-up - Within a few days of returning home, we call new mothers and patients who have had any type of invasive procedure. This gives our staff time to answer questions, check on patient progress and offer home care suggestions.

Surveys - We ask our patients how we can improve their experience, then act on their suggestions.

These and other services also further patient centered care:

Patient advocacy
We welcome patients’ comments and suggestions.

  • If you have a concern or problem, we encourage you to talk directly with your doctor, nurse or social worker.
  • If you feel uncomfortable discussing your concern with your caregiver, please ask to speak with the patient advocate or call 715-426-4526.

Care management
A care management specialist works with patients and their family to make sure quality care continues after they leave the hospital. The specialist can help with…

  • finding a companion or health aide to help with housekeeping and personal care
  • ordering the delivery of home medical equipment
  • referring to other facilities, such as a rehabilitation center or nursing home
  • arranging physical, occupational or speech therapy
  • accessing hospital and community support services
  • arranging home nursing care
  • getting transportation to and from medical appointments

Spiritual care
Clergy from the River Falls Ministerial Association are available 24 hours a day to address the spiritual needs of patients and families of various faiths. To request this service, contact the patient's nurse, the hospital social worker, or the patient care managment specialist.
