We encourage children and parents to tour our surgical area before a procedure.
Usually, the nurse anesthetist who will attend the procedure will escort you.
We offer a separate children's waiting room with rocking chair, toys, TV/video,
and changing table. Care providers meet with the parents/child in this area
prior to the procedure.
All children receive general anesthesia. Staff use "flavored" lip gloss
to line the mask which the child chooses. Parents may sit with and hold their
child during the administration of anesthesia.
Parents can accompany children into the operating room.
Parents join the children in a private recovery room.
Each child under the age of 12 receives a special teddy bear.
