RadiologyThe Radiology Department at the New Ulm Medical Center is home to some of the most exciting, cutting-edge technology in the facility. This department encompasses diagnostic radiology, x-rays, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, mammography, fluoroscopy, MRI, CT scanning, EKGs, and echocardiography. The department provides care for both outpatients and inpatients of all ages. As of June 1, 2005, with the expansion of our Radiology Department, we now have our own MRI equipment. Previously, we used a mobile service and had a limited period of time that patients could utilize this service. We now have Monday through Friday services available in this area. We also have our own nuclear medicine equipment. We currently have a technologist available for these services three days a week with the possibility of an additional day as volume demands. Before visiting our department, the patient will receive information specific to the exam or procedure they will be having from the referring physician. This information will include any dietary restrictions or other preparations that may need to be done prior to the visit. When given such instructions, please take the time to review them carefully. The Radiology Department is licensed or certified by the following entities: US Department of Health and Human Services, Public Health Service, Food and Drug Administration, and is a Certified Mammography Facility. Scheduled Radiology procedures are usually done between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The Radiology Department is open 24 hours a day, however, to provide services to inpatients and Emergency Department patients.
