Respiratory Therapy

Respiratory therapists care for patients young and old with varying respiratory disorders such as asthma, emphysema and chronic bronchitis, to name just a few.

The Respiratory Therapy Department at New Ulm Medical Center offers the following services:

  • Ventilator management
  • BIPAP (bilevel positive airway pressure) management
  • Respiratory treatments
  • Pulmonary function tests
  • Oxygen/oximetry
  • Asthma education
  • Respiratory assessment
  • EEG’s – sleep deprived and conscious
  • Respiratory patient education
  • Baby care at high-risk deliveries and c-sections
  • Instruction of Neonatal Resuscitation Program

Education materials for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and asthma are available in the department anytime.

Staff of the Respiratory Therapy Department are in-house 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on-call Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. To reach therapists Sheila Wacker, RRCP, or Sandra Orr, CRCP,LPN  call 507-233-1128.
