Varian™ Trilogy at Abbott Northwestern

Abbott Northwestern Hospital's Radiation Oncology Department uses a Varian Trilogy unit for image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT). Patients of the Neuroscience Institute and Virginia Piper Cancer Institute benefit from the unparalleled accuracy this technology offers.

The Varian Trilogy system is a state of the art form of stereotatic radiosurgery –a method of treating benign/malignant tumors in a non-invasive fashion.

Radiosurgery does not remove the tumor or tissue abnormality. For tumors, radiation distorts DNA which stops abnormal cells from growing. Focused radiation beams are delivered to a specific target with great accuracy preventing peripheral damage to healthy tissue.
