Robotic Surgery at Abbott Northwestern

Abbott Northwestern's Virginia Piper Cancer Institute and Surgical Services are proud to offer the latest surgical technology - the da Vinci® Surgical System. This system provides surgeons with an alternative to both traditional open surgery and conventional laparoscopy. The da Vinci System enables surgeons to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions and allows a surgeon greater visualization, enhanced dexterity, precision and control.

The da Vinci Surgical System is the most advanced technological tool for radical prostatectomy, hysterectomy, myomectomy, and some esophageal and gastric procedures.

For patients the benefits may include:

  • shorter hospital stay
  • less pain
  • less risk of infection
  • less blood loss and fewer transfusions
  • less scarring
  • faster recovery
  • quicker return to normal activities.
