If you plan to go back to work, it's important to find someone who will provide quality care for your child. You may find a relative or friend who will care for your baby. Other types of child care include hiring an in-home nanny, taking your child to a day care provider's home, and taking your child to a child care center. Ask friends, family and neighbors for recommendations.
No matter which type of child care you choose, it's important that you feel that your child will be safe and protected there. Use these questions as a guide:
Does the provider seem mature, calm and flexible?
Do you feel confident in his or her abilities?
Is it a clean and safe place?
How does the provider treat your child?
Screen each potential provider carefully. Your baby depends on you to choose a safe and loving environment for the times when you'll be apart.
